MapleStory came out when I was in elementary school.

My first game was 'Crazy Arcade', a.k.a. BnB, and this MapleStory was my second. Childhood memories tend to get stuck deep in your subconscious...! That's why I still feel a strange sense of returning to that time whenever I hear MapleStory BGM.

What makes me nostalgic isn't the modern MapleStory at all, but the pre-Big Bang Old Maple. A route has opened up where I can legally feel that nostalgia again. MapleStory World's Mapleland

I can't play it myself because I'm older now and it feels like a waste of time, so I'm vicariously satisfied by watching YouTubers. Today, I made a recommendation list of Malen (or Old Maple related) YouTubers containing my extremely personal taste

I've categorized them a bit.

Major Vibes

Daemeoridojeok

Daemeoridojeok Visit YouTube Channel

Daemeoridojeok seems to be getting some hate comments lately due to his long hiatus, but I still enjoy watching him. While many YouTubers, especially early ones, have a laid-back vibe of "I'll do what I want, watch if you want," this bald guy has a strong vibe of willingly becoming a clown for the people. Exaggeration and overacting are his charms, and he spends big money, so it's fun to look at good items. I can't be that extroverted, so he's someone I respect in a way. I think he could grow even bigger, but he seems to be feeling burnout from repetitive content lately...? I find it fun even watching reruns.

Jindeukchul

I'm really, really, really sorry to say this, but he's a YouTuber with a sister product vibe to Daemeoridojeok. Actually, he's Daemeoridojeok's editor, but he seems to receive a lot of love because his sense of humor is truly incredible. Humor is a tremendous ability to reach people's hearts, and Jindeukchul has an excellent sense for it. Probably the funniest among Malen YouTubers...?

Kim Dede

Kim Dede's voice is art. It's slightly similar to Baedalbae (a famous delivery YouTuber), but mixed with a slight dialect and contains a friendly vibe. Looking at his speech style, his personality seems well-rounded and not prickly, so even first-time listeners would probably like him without discomfort. Every time I watch, I think, 'How does his voice stick in my ears so well?' I envy this the most; it's a first impression that people wouldn't be wary of.

Gwoeim

Gwoeim Visit YouTube Channel

Seems to be a Shorts specialist. His vibe is truly optimized for Shorts. What I find unique is that he has a talent for taking subjects and humor codes that seem like they wouldn't be funny and processing them so that people without that sensibility can enjoy them without discomfort. So when a Gwoeim video pops up, I always watch it without skipping. (Since it's Shorts, I'll end the short explanation here.)

TesterHoon

Not a Malen specialist, and he's already a mega-YouTuber. The balance of various elements like voice, editing, content, and fun is so good that even if I don't look for him on purpose, if he pops up on the algorithm, I watch until the end.

Moajae

Moajae Visit YouTube Channel

Moajae is also a character with a pretty distinct identity. A significant part of the video seems to be his own laughter, and listening to it gives the impression that he has high self-esteem. The guy just doesn't get discouraged... I definitely thought Moajae wasn't my type, but one day I found myself unconsciously going 'Me~so Explosion! Ppiyung?' inside, and realized... Ah, I've fallen for Moajae.

Geuljane

I originally liked Geuljane's style, so I watched him a lot when Malen came out, but he stopped uploading, maybe because he didn't find it fun. He left. Pangiyo was also fun to watch, but he left. Sob.

Categories I Particularly Cherish

Huh Gubok

Huh Gubok Visit YouTube Channel

Huh Gubok is actually just the top Malen YouTuber to me. I was very moved watching his Sharp Eyes farming video a long time ago, and I've been wearing rose-colored glasses since then. But somewhat paradoxically, I don't look for him every day. Unlike ordinary YouTubers who just stream roughly and cut/caption the funny parts, Huh Gubok tends to treat each video like a piece of artwork. So the content is condensed to the core, and he puts a lot of effort into editing to make it as comfortable as possible for viewers. So it's a bit awkward to just play Huh Gubok's videos in the background while doing something else; you have to decide to watch them properly. Ironically, the watch time itself is low, but he's a YouTuber I really 'cherish'.

Iruje

Iruje Visit YouTube Channel

Iruje also has an artisan vibe. It feels not like he's starving for attention, but like he makes a promise to himself to try something and works tirelessly to keep it. So there is emotion in the videos, and although the number of videos is small, the length is generally long, so it makes for perfect background music when working at home.

Samyeo

Samyeo Visit YouTube Channel

Samyeo's voice, editing style, and vibe are exactly my taste, but it's very regrettable that he feels like he makes content too obsessively within a set format. He's a YouTuber I'm keeping an eye on because I think I'd be totally hooked if he adjusted his direction just a little. But as a content creator, I also understand why he does that. It's not like people immediately recognize and visit just because you made something creatively with care... Still, still! It's a pity.

Na Hermit

The channel size is still very small, but he's a YouTuber perfect for "the vibe of this category". I think the balance would be much better for listening if the voice volume in the videos was reduced just a little.

YouTubers Who Talk About MapleStory Itself

This category introduces YouTubers who purely capture old MapleStory itself, not their own Malen gameplay. It's great to look up when you want to pleasantly reminisce about old MapleStory.

I didn't add detailed explanations, but the YouTubers in this category all have excellent storytelling skills. The best category to play in the background when you feel lonely.

Conclusion

The conclusion is the MapleStory BGM I played on the piano 11 years ago from now. Now I've developed the concept of noise and realized playing piano in an apartment is a no-no, so I threw away all my pianos, but back then I really loved both the piano and playing Maple BGM on it. Anyway, neither is exactly the original song, but there are slight variations. The first one, I didn't have sheet music, nor did I play by ear, I just played from memory. The second one, I had sheet music I printed at the time, but I modified it slightly from there.
